Chat Log

<djjuhasz> Yay Holly!
<mcantelon> Go Holly!
<courtney> hi JustinSimpson, welcome back
<JustinSimpson> hello
<MikeG-> w/b Justin =)
<JustinSimpson> thx: there are some dev tasks needed at Rockefeller, is now a good time to list them?
<courtney> yes, please
* JustinS (~JustinS@184.69.130.182) has joined #artefactual
<qubot> Notice: JustinS has joined channel #openarchives.
<courtney> justin is TWO PEOPLE!
* JustinS has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
<JustinSimpson> justin has a new laptop, he is one desktop and one laptop.
<mcantelon> What was the issue you fixed, Holly (for the notes)?
<Holly> #5084
<qubot> Links: https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/5084
<mcantelon> Holly: Thx!
<b22> Mark filed some bugs with the bag workflows, which I've fixed.
<JustinSimpson> rockefeller got upgraded to 0.10 in their production environment. they have a dev environment that got upgraded to their own private git repo - based on 0.10.1 release, with customizations for dip upload to archivists toolkit
<courtney> b22: beyond your current issues - focus over the next couple of weeks as a priority should be: https://www.archivematica.org/wiki/Development_roadmap:_Archivematica_1.0#Normalization
<courtney> JustinSimpson: cool, all updated in internal wiki?
<mcantelon> Mike C fixed issue #5054 (.tgz zipped bags not working via REST approval API).
<qubot> Links: https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/5054
<mcantelon> Mike C fixed issue #5048 (REST API approval not executing properly).
<qubot> Links: https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/5048
<b22> courtney: I'll need packages built/included for tika & fido
<courtney> b22: right on -- can you make issue tasks for those and assign to Austin?
<courtney> b22: he also needs to create the FITS 0.6.2 package
<b22> I filed an issue I can't seem to track down; where the FPR edit of a command didn't update the FK's pointing to the command
<mcantelon> Mike C fixed issue #5046 (REST API listing of approved transfers not including zippped bags).
<qubot> Links: https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/5046
<JustinSimpson> there is some testing of AIP indexing in elastic search needed for Rockefeller, mcantelon wrote a script last Friday to extract the mets files from aipstorage, and save a copy on the local filesystem. That script needs to get run at Rockefeller still. after that we need to do some testing here with those mets files. Right now Rockefeller has the archival storage tab disabled, because it is not working, due to the size of the index vs. the
<JustinSimpson> amount of hardware they have
<mcantelon> Mike C fixed #5058 ("Date stored" changes when AIPs are re-indexed).

<MikeG-> wow you've been on a tear mcantelon
<MikeG-> o/
<mcantelon> MikeG-: \o
<courtney> mcantelon and I reviewed his issues, too, reassigned many (especially those related to SIP creation/arrangement) to 1.1 - he's now down to around 50 outstanding features and bugs for 1.0
<b22> courtney: #4519 and #5061
<qubot> Links: https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/4519 | https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/5061
<courtney> some work on the sip arrangement may be done for 1.0, but not featured in 1.0 - for this reason, i'm scheduled to meet with peterVG and JustinSimpson at the end of the month to discuss how we'll deal with that on a monthly basis
* ARTi (~austin@1GLAAA2XW.tor-irc.dnsbl.oftc.net) has joined #artefactual
<courtney> thx b22
<courtney> ARTi created a vmdk that i'll test later this afternoon after the class i'm teaching
<courtney> ARTi: i'll announce and release more screencasts tomorrow morning
<courtney> ARTi: what do i need to do once i've tested? just let you know and you'll do all the links on the wiki?
<ARTi> courtney: yea
<courtney> ARTi: ok
<b22> ARTI: when you've finished the critical items on your plate, can you do these highs: #4519 and #5061
<qubot> Links: https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/4519 | https://projects.artefactual.com/issues/5061
<courtney> ok, i have to go in 7 minutes for a call... let's move on to documentation
<courtney> we decided against adding dev documentation to the installation page on the wiki because it's inviting user problems
<courtney> based on the twitter events of late last week, we may need to look at our installation documentation for packages so it's clearer to users
<courtney> ARTi: ^
<ARTi> courtney: ok
<courtney> ARTi: did you see all that wrt the ffmpeg stuff and david rice?
<ARTi> I think telling people to do a install (unless they are savvy) is asking for problems
<courtney> yep
<JustinSimpson> courtney : ARTi and evelyn and I discussed the david rice tweet stuff
<courtney> JustinSimpson: right on
<mcantelon> ARTi: Would it be practical to rename the ffmpeg to differentiate it from the stock ffmpeg one? I guess it would probably be a hassle...
<mcantelon> (ffmpeg package)
<ARTi> mcantelon: I am using the ffmpeg packages from their site
<ARTi> its OK I think
<mcantelon> ARTi: Cool.
<ARTi> drice simply didn't do the install.. :)
<courtney> mcantelon: that was the issue - david rice thought we weren't using ffmpeg because of libav parts in the ffmpeg official package, i think
<courtney> ok, gotta go
<ARTi> bye
<mcantelon> Later courtney!
* courtney is now known as courtneyTeleconf
<JustinSimpson> I think David Rice did not add the archivematica ppa's to his machine
<mcantelon> Yeah.
<JustinSimpson> so when he did aptitude install ffmepg
<JustinSimpson> it installed 0.8.6
<mcantelon> Any more deployment/testing/doc news?
<b22> UBC is on hold atm. Waiting for their customization to normalization rules.
<courtneyTeleconf> peterVG: you're the only one not on the line
* peterVG is now known as peter_telecon
<peter_telecon> courtneyTeleconf: we're dialing in
<mcantelon> Alright... seems like that's a wrap unless anyone's got any other stuff.
<djjuhasz> :)
<Holly> Other than my brain leaking out my ears (or will be soon), I don't.
<b22> There are 3 items wrt UBC:
<b22> -updating their normalization rule
<b22> -the update process.
<b22> -The original command that was giving low resolution images, did not appear to give low res images any more.
<ARTi> Holly: you should probably get that check out
<djjuhasz> Holly: haha. Brain leakage is par for the course for new Artefactual hires :)
<djjuhasz> Holly: We like to make sure you aren't bored :P
<b22> maybe I'm just trying to shove too many parts of my brain in... your brains are leaking out the other side
<mcantelon> Brainssss.
